The Activity Centre will have benefits for our residents as there will be more space for activities and individuals will be able to work alone.
Among the regular group activities are music appreciation, art and craft, embroidery and stitching, watching films, poetry reading, talks by visiting speakers, confectionery and cake making, cards and board games, flower arranging and any other pursuits of interest to the residents. At less regular intervals and on special occasions, entertainment will be provided by local artists, choirs and small musical groups, possibly in the evening for those who want a change from normal evening activities. The main room is very flexible in its layout and sets out to provide a homely atmosphere for those who use it. There is a “Therapy room” that is fitted out with equipment for hairdressing and to allow visiting qualified practitioners to provide services such as chiropody, manicuring, simple physiotherapy, aromatherapy and massage. A fully fitted kitchen has been installed to allow users to cook under supervision. A “Cosy corner” around a fireplace with easy chairs for quiet conversation, reading or just relaxing in front of the fire. To meet the needs of those who use computers, (the internet and email communication etc), a “Computer Centre” has been installed. Computers provided by the community will allow Broadband communication, games, correspondence and so on. The centre has a “Garden room”, or Conservatory, that really does feel as though you are in the garden.
